Meet the Staff
Cal Kuphall – President/Owner
Cal is the president and owner of Underwood Tax and Bookkeeping Service, Inc. having purchased the company in the fall of 2013. He is thrilled with the opportunity to own and operate the business because of its outstanding reputation and the quality of the staff. Underwood has been around since 1945 and is very well known in the Indianapolis and surrounding area.
Cal has 11 years of tax experience as an owner and manager. His passion is in helping tax cients with their needs, guiding them as their situations may change, and working closely with small businesses. Having started an event and corporate sponsorship business and serving as a managing partner in a fund raising company, he knows the challenges associated with a small business.
Cal spent many years in collegiate athletics as an administrator. He worked at five college institutions around the country managing, marketing, and budgeting sport programs. Combining his sports background with his tax experience Cal formed SportTax, Inc. a compony focusing on the tax needs of those in the Sport Industry. If you want to talk college or pro sports, Cal will talk all day with you. And if you like the Green Bay Packers he’ll buy you a soft drink.
The goal of Underwood Tax and Bookkeeping Service, Inc is to gain the confidence of all clients that we can not only prepare and file their individual and business tax returns, but, to play an integral role in the planning of their future tax needs.
Cal will personally make sure that all clients meet with a tax professional at Underwood Tax and Bookkeeping Service, Inc. who can meet the needs of each individual client.
Anna Gardner – PTIN Registered Tax Return Preparer
Anna has over 30 years of tax experience including eight years with Underwood Tax and Bookkeeping Service, Inc. Anna’s experience with personal tax returns ranges from the simplest to the most complicated. If there is a question we can’t answer she is our go-to person when it comes researching the IRS and the state of Indiana for tax updates and information to benefit our clients. Anna has completed the IRS Annual Filing Season Program.
Anna has seven years of bookkeeping experience with William Ritchie Incorporated. Couple that with her 30 years of tax preparation experience you can be assured she can take care of your personal and business tax preparation needs. From simple returns to the complicated, Anna can meet your needs.
Victor Ruthig
Vic has joined Underwood tax and Bookkeeping Service, Inc. with 18 years experience in the tax industry. Vic specializes in the more difficult corporate and personal tax returns. He is an expert in solving client issues with the IRS and the Indiana Department of Revenue.
